What is Kambô?

Kambô or “Sapo” is the secretion of the Giant Green Monkey Tree Frog that is also known by its scientific name, Phyllomedusa Bicolar. Kambô is native to the upper Amazon and has been used traditionally by indigenous cultures for hundreds and perhaps thousands of years to eliminate negative energy known as “panema”, as well as to cleanse, strengthen, and energize the mind and body for hunting purposes

In Western culture Kambô has been used as a detox for it’s incredible anti-microbial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, and potent analgesic effects along with removing energetic blockages allowing us to truly thrive as our authentic selves. Kambô is 100% legal and does not cause a psychedelic experience.

Why use Kambô?

People are called to Kambô for various reasons. We are all on our personal journeys and are sometimes instinctively called to seek something greater than what is offered in our chaotic western culture. Kambô is truly a holistic treatment that addresses the mind, body, and soul and acts as an amazing “reset” when we feel stuck in our day to day lives. In addition to a basic treatment, energetic blockages can also be addressed by targeting specific chakras, meridians, and even auricular treatments pinpointing specific areas of the ear.

The Science Behind Kambô

An Italian scientist, Vittorio Erspamer of the University of Rome was the first person to analyse Kambô in a laboratory. In 1986, he wrote that it contains a ‘fantastic chemical cocktail with potential medical applications, unequalled by any other amphibian’.

The chemicals he referred to are bioactive peptides. The peptides studied by Erspamer have become essential to characterize the functional role of opioid receptors. He was twice nominated for a Nobel Prize and was also the person who first discovered Serotonin. Sixteen bioactive peptides have since been isolated from the secretion and several have been synthesized. Currently there are over 70 Kambô patents lodged, mainly in the USA.

A bioactive peptide means that the amino acid chain performs a specific biological function that has a positive impact on the human body. Kambô contains numerous bioactive peptides so when they enter the body the cell receptors open and allow them to enter the cells. As a natural substance that the body recognizes, it unlocks to Kambô at a cellular level with no stress to the cells. It also cleans out deposits left in the cells by foreign substances that the cell was not able to process alone.

Ethically Harvested

All of the Kambô used in ceremony is ethically sourced, sustainable, high quality Kambô harvested by the Matsés tribe of South America ensuring that the safety of the frogs used to harvest the secretion is always the highest priority. In addition to the IAKP giving back to the Matsés community, I personally donate a percentage of my proceeds to the Matsés. Without them, we could not serve nature’s gift of Kambô in the United States in an ethical manner.

Your Practitioner

My story started three years when I found myself at a point in my life where I had an unhealthy relationship with my career, alcohol, and cannabis, while feeling horribly unfulfilled despite having the things that some would consider the ingredients of being “successful”.

However, I refused to believe that I had gotten this far in my life and had overcome so much adversity to feel the way I did. My calling to something greater brought me to Costa Rica where I had a profound spiritual experience that blew me open and gave me the insight needed to start healing from and addressing childhood trauma that I was still carrying.

My life would never be the same! Since then, I have been on a beautiful spiritual journey of connecting to my authentic self and during this time was introduced to Kambô and knew that this amazing frog secretion was going to be part of my new path of serving others. I am incredibly honored and grateful to serve you and hold a safe space for your Kambô experience.

Much Love,
Scott

About the

The IAKP – International Association of Kambô Practitioners is a not for profit organisation that seeks to support and encourage the safe, responsible and professional use of Kambô through training, awareness raising, knowledge development and sharing, personal skills development, research and best practice.

The IAKP are committed to ensuring the sustainability of the tribes who own the knowledge of this great Amazonian medicine. We feel immense gratitude who share it with us so generously. Along with other key participants, we are currently working to provide better educational resources and health care to the remote communities of the Matsés tribe of Peru and several small rainforest projects in the Peruvian and Brazilian Amazon.

We were founded in early 2014 with the goal of bringing Kambô into the modern world in a safe, responsible, ethical and sustainable sustainable way. We are now a Not-For-Profit Foundation based in the Netherlands. This means that 70% of our profits go the causes that we support. Our practitioners are encouraged to donate a portion of any Kambô derived income back to foundations that support the Matsés tribes of Peru.
